MSU beats Memphis to end losing skid

No one had to remind Mississippi State softball coach Vann Stuedeman that her team had lost five-straight games.
Her Bulldogs made sure that total didn't grow to six on Wednesday night.
MSU used nine hits to score 11 runs and defeated the Memphis Tigers 11-3 in five innings. It was the final game in 19-year-old home facility for the Bulldogs.

Skinner of Jackets takes basketball skills to Hinds CC

Josh Skinner believes he has found that at Hinds Community College in Raymond.
The Starkville High School boys basketball player signed a scholarship with Hinds on Wednesday afternoon inside the school gymnasium where he performed for the Yellowjackets.

Starkville High School softball coach Wendy Jolly said seniors play an important role in the success of any team.
On the way to a playoff berth in Class 6A this fast pitch season, Jolly has gotten that leadership from seniors Iyuna Clark and Jocitta Buchanan.
Clark and Buchanan were recognized between the two games of a doubleheader Tuesday against Northwest Rankin.

Howland hires Ludwig to staff with Bulldogs

New Mississippi State head coach Ben Howland continues to compile his staff.
On Tuesday, he announced Jason Ludwig joined his staff as director of operations.
Ludwig comes to Starkville from Arizona State, where he was the director of operations for the Sun Devils the past two seasons.

SA baseball pushes way past Pillow

GREENWOOD – John McReynolds brought home the go-ahead run to give the Starkville Academy Volunteers the lead in the sixth inning and they hung on hung on to beat Pillow Academy 3-1 on Tuesday.
Houston Clark singled to get on base in the sixth for Starkville Academy. He went from first to second on a stolen base.
McReynolds had two extra-base hits for the Vols.

Yellowjackets see 154 players buzzing around football practice fields

Starkville head coach Jamie Mitchell could only find one phrase to describe the first spring practice for the Yellowjackets.
"Mass chaos."
There were 154 players that attended the first practice Monday afternoon and there wasn't much room for improvement with all that was going on.
