Graham to retire at Eupora to take Winston Academy job

EUPORA – No matter where his journey leads, one place will always stick out as “home” for Junior Graham.
“Eupora is my home,” the former Eagles coach said. “I am proud to call it my home. I am still the No. 1 Eupora fan. I love those kids and the people there.”

Heading into Tuesday evening, coach Glenn Schmidt spoke on the importance of her Starkville Academy Lady Volunteers starting the new year and conference play with a win.
The Lady Volunteers took that knowledge and ran with it as the team defeated Heritage Academy 47-41.

Mississippi State head coach Dan Mullen decided to go with the familiar route when it came to hiring his newest assistant coach.
It was announced Monday that Mullen hired former MSU defensive coordinator Manny Diaz to the same position. The news was first reported by Sports Illustrated's Pete Thamel, but a source confirmed the news to the Starkville Daily News soon after.

Williams likes progress of Lady Yellowjackets

Starkville High School girls basketball coach Kristie Williams likes the progress of her team.

With one half of the season in the books, the Lady Yellowjackets enter back into Class 6A, Region 3 play with an 11-3 overall record. They have already defeated Columbus once within the region.

School is back in session and with it comes the return of basketball competition.
However for Starkville Academy, there has been little downtime as the teams have played right through the holiday break.
Many of those games though were out of conference, which allowed the Volunteers and Lady Vols to learn some things about themselves against some new competitors.

MSU football seniors proud of accomplishments

Mississippi State's seniors might be remembered for many years to come and the veteran Bulldogs won't forget what they leave behind.
The 2014 class leaves Starkville with a 32-21 record, making them the third winningest class in program history. Those seniors competed in four-straight bowl games as well, and saw the Bulldogs rise to No. 1 this season for the first time ever.
