People give thanks for health, friends or family.
Even though Thanksgiving is an off day for most, coach Dan Mullen and his Mississippi State Bulldogs hit the practice field early this morning.

South Panola has found the formula for having success

Coach Lance Pogue said there is one thing down through the years that has made his South Panola Tigers successful.
"You've got to protect the ball, obviously play good defense and find a way to run the ball some this time of year," Pogue told WFCA-FM radio last week.
When it comes to running the football, there isn't a team that has done it better this season than South Panola.

Change in playoff rules gives Calhoun City chance to host

A little change in rules has made a big difference in the playing of Mississippi high school postseason football.
Unlike in years past, the higher seed team now has the privilege of hosting the final playoff round, which according to Calhoun City coach Perry Liles said can often mean the difference between a win or a loss.

Not many people will argue against the Southeastern Conference Western Division being the toughest division in college football.
Early in the season, many of the seven teams in the division were ranked at one time. There are only four teams ranked now, but the other three all received votes in the Associated Press poll this week. All seven teams are bowl eligible.

The Starkville Yellowjackets remain undefeated on the football field this season at 13-0.
It's hard to keep an unbeaten record, but it's something that many of the Jackets more than likely did at an earlier age.
Two youth tackle teams of the Starkville Cowboys program just finished up the season undefeated and winning state championships.

Dak Prescott was on his way to winning the Heisman Trophy a little over a month ago.
The Mississippi State quarterback was one of the favorites and was putting up some impressive numbers, then he had a rough stretch of five games between Auburn and Alabama. He threw eight interceptions in that span and the Bulldogs ended up losing to the Crimson Tide.
