The Starkville Yellowjackets may have lost a baseball game on Tuesday night, but they still found a reason to celebrate.
With a 5-0 loss by Columbus to Madison Central in Lowndes County, the Jackets earned a playoff spot in Class 6A.

SHS, Newton County get onto MSU courts briefly before the rain

It may have only been for about an hour, but the high school tennis teams from Starkville and Newton County got to experience the game on a college stage.
The Yellowjackets hosted the Cougars on Monday. The match didn't take place on the courts on the SHS campus. It happened at the Pitts Tennis Centre on the campus of Mississippi State University.

Mississippi State started three seniors on the defensive line a season ago.
Preston Smith, Kaleb Eulls and P.J. Jones were the nucleus of the Bulldog line during the 2014 season. Smith led the way at one of the defensive end positions with 48 total tackles. Eulls and Smith both played defensive tackle and had 34 and 31 total tackles respectively.
