SAY league starts, participation increases

The Travis Outlaw Center at the Starkville Sportsplex will be filled with youth today with one thing on their mind.
They will be trying to get the basketball through the hoop, so points can be scored and games can be won.
The Starkville Parks and Recreation Department provides that through the Starkville Area Youth basketball program.

Schaefer wants seniors to keep State focused

Martha Alwal, Kendra Grant and Jerica James know what it feels like to go into a hostile environment like Missouri and get a win.
Those three players helped the Mississippi State Bulldogs to a 61-56 victory at Missouri on Feb. 10, 2013.
The Bulldogs return to Columbia, Mo., today to take on the Tigers in their second Southeastern Conference game of the season. The tip is set for 2 p.m.

Win against Florida State helps boost MSU's moral

Something good needed to happen for the Mississippi State Bulldogs before Southeastern Conference play started.
It did.
MSU downed the Florida State Seminoles 62-55 Friday night inside Humphrey Coliseum to end non-conference play on a high note.
The Bulldogs (7-6) start SEC play Wednesday when it host Tennessee at 8 p.m.

The just-completed Mississippi State football season should be remembered fondly.
No, it didn't end well as the Bulldogs suffered two very disappointing losses, but those should not overshadow what has been accomplished.
This has been one of the best years in MSU history and may go down as THE BEST.

Mississippi State has seen the seesaw sway back and forth with its non-conference schedule this season.
The Bulldogs started play 5-0, but lost six of seven games after the best start under third-year head coach Rick Ray. They were coming off a 19-point loss to McNeese State at home on Tuesday night.
