Perfect score: Howland passes test, ready to hit recruiting trail for MSU

Ben Howland had to take a recruiting test before he could ever contact the first recruit or hit the recruiting trail.
Howland was hired by Mississippi State on Monday. He stayed up until 2:30 a.m. Monday night/Tuesday morning studying for his test.
He took it first thing Tuesday morning.

Beniquez Brown works to be Bulldog leader at linebacker

It may be strange for some Mississippi State fans to look upon the practice fields this spring and not see Benardrick McKinney.
The Tunica native not only was the anchor of the linebackers, but the entire defense for most of the last three seasons. The linebacker has since moved on and is expected to go high in next month's National Football League Draft.

Cutura adjusts in time on tennis court for the Bulldogs

Discipline and hard work must be part of the equation and those ingredients have helped Mate Cutura make progress as a Mississippi State men's tennis player.
The junior college transfer has progressed quickly during his time with the Bulldogs and has excelled in the Southeastern Conference.

Ben Howland has had three Division I head coaching jobs during his 19-year career in college basketball and he anticipates good things happening for his fourth.
On Tuesday, he was officially introduced as the 20th head coach in Mississippi State history in front of media members and hundreds of Bulldog fans at Humphrey Coliseum.

The baseball game between the Starkville Academy Volunteers and the Jackson Academy Raiders came down to the very end Tuesday.
After battling for eight innings, Starkville Academy and Jackson Academy entered the ninth deadlocked. Unfortunately for the Volunteers, it was Jackson Academy which broke the tie to pick up a 16-10 early week victory.

Howland will be introduced today as the 20th men's basketball coach at Mississippi State and after two days of intense speculation, the news became official Monday night.

The 2015-16 basketball season already has an all-star year flavor stamped on it for Starkville High School.
