The Starkville Planning and Zoning Commission will hold a specially called public hearing 5:30 p.m. Thursday at City Hall to consider recommending approval of a zoning change from R-1 (single-family residential) to R-M (mobile home).

‘SCT: Unplugged’ debuts downtown

Starkville Community Theater unveils its newest summer musical tonight with the premiere of “SCT: Unplugged” at 7:30 p.m. in downtown Starkville.

Director Carole Sorenson said the musical has a different feel compared to previous years, but audiences will be excited about the music selected.

Starkville 8-year-old All-Stars begin play in the World Series

The Starkville 8-year-old All Stars are coming into the Dizzy Dean World Series with a lot of confidence.

The All-Stars face off against Bradley (Tenn.) North Heat today at 1 p.m. at Snowden Grove Park in Southaven.

Starkville is coming off a good showing in the state tournament and coach Tom McReynolds hopes that carries over.

Bulldog Banks promotes teammates at Media Days

HOOVER, Ala. – Johnthan Banks didn't spent Southeastern Conference Media Days talking about himself.

The former East Webster High School player who has developed into an All-SEC defensive back at Mississippi State decided to promote his teammates more than himself at the Wynfrey Hotel on Wednesday.

Shaw: Rule changes go into effect this season

HOOVER, Ala. – The NCAA has implemented several new rule changes for the upcoming season.

The most significant being moving the kickoff to the 35-yard line from the 30-yard line and making a touchback go to the 25-yard line rather than the 20-yard line like it has been in years past.
