The Mississippi State University International Institute will bring together international experts and national policy makers for “Technology Implementation at the Local Level: Food Security for the Future,” a day-long conference starting at 8:30 a.m. Monday at the Colvard Student Union.

Banks, Bulldogs, big win: Playmakers emerge as MSU tops Auburn

It takes big plays during the course of a football game to pull off big victories in the Southeastern Conference.

On Saturday at Davis Wade Stadium, the Mississippi State Bulldogs made several such plays in defeating the Auburn Tigers 28-10. It was the first win in an SEC opener for the Bulldogs since a 17-0 decision over South Carolina in 1999.

They are all senior members of the Mississippi State football team that contributed positive plays to Saturday's 28-10 victory over the Auburn Tigers.

For any squad to have a successful season, senior leadership is key. It appears after two games that the Bulldogs are solid in that area.

When Johnthan Banks came to Mississippi State from Class 2A East Webster, it was unknown what type of player he was going to develop into.

In his senior year, it's pretty clear what type of player he is and what he brings to the MSU defense.

Banks intercepted two passes in State's 28-10 victory over Auburn Saturday at Davis Wade Stadium.

Vols roll over Rebels: Starkville Academy defeats Leake 45-0

The Starkville Academy Volunteers found their offense and played lock down defense, as it rolled to a blowout victory.

The Vols beat the Leake Academy Rebels 45-0 Friday night at JE Logan Field.

Starkville Academy, which evened its record at 2-2, was coming off two straight losses and although head coach Jeff Terrill didn't feel a sense of urgency, he was glad to get a victory.

West Point tops SHS in a meeting of rivals

High school football is built on rivalries and nowhere in Mississippi is there a better rivalry than Starkville-West Point.
 
On Friday night, the rivalry was renewed and for two and a half quarters the fans of both schools were treated to a game for the ages. However a single play led to the Yellowjacket demise, dropping a 47-22 decision to the Green Wave.

The city of Starkville’s proposed 2012-13 fiscal year budget has an anticipated revenue of $16,841,982, which reflects budget revenues being $12,415 short of the projected $16,889,397 2012 budget but $450,101 more than the initial anticipated 2012 budget as it was approved last year.

Wolverines haunted by mistakes in loss

MABEN –The East Webster Wolverines could not overcome several miscues as they dropped their first game of the season to the Caledonia Confederates 27-10 Friday night.
