It doesn't surprise Mississippi State football coach Dan Mullen when Chad Bumphis, Chris Smith, Cameron Lawrence, Darius Slay or Johnthan Banks make their presence felt on the field.

Mullen said those seniors have put in the work for the Bulldogs over the years and know how to lay it on the line when necessary.

Last week, the Patriots (5-0, 1-0) beat Mississippi High School Activities Association Class 5A opponent Pearl 9-0. Prep head coach Ricky Black got his 300th win.

The Patriots look to make it 301 for Black this week as they travel to Starkville Academy (3-2, 1-0) for a 7 p.m. kickoff.
