MSU women getting All-SEC recognition

Entering his third year as the head coach of Mississippi State, coach Vic Schaefer is finally getting a little bit of recognition.
The Bulldogs were picked to finish eighth in the Southeastern Conference by the coaches, and senior center Martha Alwal was selected to the preseason All-SEC first team, as announced Wednesday.

For the Cougars to win, coach Luke Buckner said shots have to fall.
On Tuesday night against Tuscaloosa Home School Educators, they didn't.

County investigates shooting incidents on Blackjack Road

Oktibbeha County Sheriff’s Department officers are seeking the public’s help with investigating two shots fired reports since Oct. 22 on Blackjack Road near The Pointe at MSU apartment complex.
Sheriff Steve Gladney said on Tuesday that each incident involved a single fired round that damaged property but injured no one.

Mississippi State University will celebrate its Homecoming this coming Saturday, but that won't be the only homecoming this weekend.
The top-ranked Bulldogs host UT Martin, and the Skyhawks have several Mississippi connections. The most notable is former Bulldog quarterback Dylan Favre. 

Road to Starkville begins this week

The road to Starkville begins for three of our area teams this Friday.
It still sounds kind of strange to write "road to Starkville," but that's the destination that Mississippi High School Activities Association football teams want to reach for state championships this season.
