Football season inches closer and closer with each passing day.
Fans long to know who will be the break out player, or the game changer in just a few short weeks.

The margin of the loss didn't matter as much to the Starkville Academy Lady Volunteers Tuesday afternoon as the loss itself.
Even as the score grew in Copiah Academy's favor at the Lady Volunteer softball field, the fact that it was a conference game made it hurt a little more for Starkville Academy.

The Bulldogs travel to Troy, Ala. to take on the Trojans on Nov. 9 to open the 2012 season. It will be the first time since 2005 that MSU opens a season away from the friendly confines of Humphrey Coliseum. The trip is part of the inaugural weekend for the state-of-the-art Trojan Arena.
Saturday Mississippi State fans had their first glimpse inside Dan Mullenâ€™s 2012 Bulldogs. What was seen was a poised first team offense and a tenacious defense all around.Â
In fact, the defense clearly won the day with pressure up front and tight defense in the secondary.Â

Even though the Lady Vols scored four runs in the top of the third inning against Heritage Academy, they could not avoid the inevitable and lost 9-5 at the Starkville Sportsplex to be eliminated.

With returning starters Gabe Jackson and Dillon Day, the Bulldogs have a talented young group to serve as the strong point up front. With the return of Tobias Smith from injury, MSU has some experience to build around up front.
