Bulldogs set marks in the passing game

The Mississippi State Bulldogs have put together quite an amazing season in the passing department.

Several passing records fell during MSU's 45-14 win over the Arkansas Razorbacks Saturday at Davis Wade Stadium.

Emotional day at MSU for 25 senior players

It was an emotional win for the MIssissippi State Bulldogs, especially for 25 seniors.

The Bulldogs sent the seniors out on a high note as they beat Arkansas 45-14 Saturday at Davis Wade Stadium on senior day.

MSU honored a special Bulldog before the game. The late Nick Bell was supposed to be a part of the senior class, but he lost his battle to cancer a little over two years ago.

The Starkville High School football team is once again one step closer to Jackson.

It is a familiar place for the Yellowjackets after they beat the Oxford Chargers 28-7 Friday night in the second round of the Class 5A playoffs at Yellowjacket Stadium.

Eupora gets revenge with victory

CALHOUN CITY – The end is almost in sight for the Eupora Eagles.

After knocking off the Calhoun City Wildcats 35-13, only a game with Bruce stands in the way of the Eagles and a visit to the state championship game.

Warrior Grant helps MSU win at home 57-55

Mississippi State's Kendra Grant had a shot attempt that rolled all of the way across the back of the rim and off to open the second half of Friday night's women's basketball game.

She refused to let that define her night.

Grant rebounded from a six-point first half to lead the Lady Bulldogs with 20 points and helped rally her team to a 57-55 victory at Humphrey Coliseum.

COLUMBUS – Kiki Patterson believes she is making a statement by staying in state and playing for Mississippi State.

The Columbus High School guard would like to think she has begun a trend that other girls basketball players in Mississippi will follow.

Patterson signed a scholarship to play with coach Vic Schaefer and the Lady Bulldogs on Friday morning in the school gymnasium.

The Battle for the Golden Egg between the Mississippi State Bulldogs and Ole Miss Rebels doesn't happen for another week.

Prior to the renewal of that college series on the gridiron, the two towns that those institutions call home have high schools teams that play in the postseason tonight.

In what is certain to be an electric matchup, the Eagles and Wildcats are set to kickoff at 7 p.m. in Calhoun City.

Jackets split with Rockets at home lanes

Bulldog Lanes in Starkville was the site of the season home opener for the Starkville High bowling teams, as the Yellowjackets split 6-6 with opponent Neshoba Central.

“I thought our team did good,” SHS bowling coach Jim Philamlee said. “I was especially impressed with their attitude about competition.”

The Jackets split their day with the Rockets as each team won three of the six frames.
