MSU must handle adversity of failure

Mississippi State has not had to respond to failure all year long.

This coming week the No. 17 (Associated Press) Bulldogs (7-1, 3-1) have to overcome their first loss of the season.

MSU fell 38-7 to No. 1 Alabama Saturday night in Tuscaloosa. This week things don't get much easier with No. 16 (Associated Press) Texas A&M (6-2, 3-2) heading to Starkville for an 11 a.m. kickoff.

MSU's women's shooters give coach, fans preview

Jessy Ward believes she can provide a nice shooting touch for the Mississippi State women's basketball team.

Coach Vic Schaefer believes she can also.

Ward made four out of six shots from 3-point range and had 20 points for both teams combined during Saturday's Maroon-White Scrimmage at Humphrey Coliseum. She was one of the encouraging signs for Schaefer.

Bulldogs suffer first loss: No. 1 Alabama imposes its will on MSU's team

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Mississippi State Bulldogs came to Alabama with a lot of confidence and support behind them.

The Alabama Crimson Tide had a little confidence and support of their own with 101,821 in Bryant-Denny Stadium.

By the time the night ended, the No. 13 (Associated Press) Bulldogs could not overcome the No. 1 Tide and fell 38-7.

Mississippi State loses the battle in the trenches

There's an old adage in football, you must win the battle in the trenches in order to win the game. 

On Saturday, the Mississippi State Bulldogs found out just how true that saying is as the Crimson Tide dominated the line of scrimmage early setting the tone for the lopsided 38-7 Alabama victory.

The Mississippi State Bulldogs took their win streak on the road to Tuscaloosa feeling they were inching closer to the top of the nation's top conference.

Regardless of Saturday's 38-7 loss to the Crimson Tide, there are still some impressive notesthat will make MSU fans proud. 

The Bulldogs’ 7-1 start is the best start through eight games since 1999 (8-0).

Entering tonight's Southeastern Conference Western Division battle against the No. 1 Alabama Crimson Tide, the support has been incredible.

There weren't many who gave the Mississippi State Bulldogs much of a chance to defeat the No. 1 Alabama Crimson Tide, led by legendary coach Paul "Bear" Bryant, in 1980.

The mere presence of Bryant leaning upon the goalpost prior to games was enough to intimidate opponents, which was often the case during the incredible stretch Alabama enjoyed in those days.

Jackets clinch division title: Starkville defeats Callaway 34-16 in Class 5A, Region 2

JACKSON – The Starkville Yellowjackets laid claim to the Class 5A, Region 2, District 6 championship for the second consecutive season.

With Friday night's 34-16 win over the Callaway Chargers, Starkville coach Jamie Mitchell was glad to say that his program had secured another title.

Vols drop 31-14 decision at home
