It didn't take long for Starkville native Billy Shed of Alcorn State to introduce himself to Mississippi State's Kivon Coman.
On the opening kickoff, Shed gave Coman a pop just to make sure he knew he was there.
True freshman Ashton Shumpert took the field as a Bulldog for the first time on Saturday. During his appearance the running back compiled 22-carries for 98 yards and two touchdowns.
Shumpertâ€™s two trips to the end zone made him the first true freshman to score twice in a collegiate debut since Chad Bumphis in 2009.

Lee also threw a 25-yard halfback pass to Tyler Stovall that glanced off a Columbus defender for the final points of the game.
