Game between Bulldogs, Aggies suspended in 7th

The game between the Mississippi State Bulldogs and Texas A&M Aggies was halted in the seventh inning Thursday night game due to weather.
Lightning forced the game to go into a delay at 8:36 p.m. and rain forced the game to be suspended until today. The No. 20 Bulldogs lead 4-1 in the top of the seventh inning and will resume today at 5 p.m.

It's all in the family for State's seniors

Members of a family stick together through the good and bad times.
For the seven seniors of the Mississippi State softball team this year, they have watched the program grow and change during their time in Starkville.
Jessica Offutt said her fellow seniors are "like sisters," and that has made being a Bulldog special.

Off the court, the senior is a woman of few words, but one step onto the hardwood and her game is killer.

East Webster claims North 2A title

MABEN – East Webster’s tennis team has encountered a bit of a stumbling block in the past when it came to postseason competition.
The Wolverines broke free from that obstacle by defeating Union 5-2 to clinch the Class 2A North Half title and advanced to the state tournament.

SHS shows fight in loss

It was the type of ending that coach Travis Garner and the Starkville Yellowjackets can build on.
Even though SHS lost a 14-5 decision to the Louisville Wildcats in the final game of the baseball season Thursday night, the fight the Jackets showed at the end by scoring four runs with two outs in the seventh inning was an encouragement to Garner.

Wolverines work out kinks in home victory

MABEN – East Webster baseball coach Wes Johnson said his team saw exactly what it needed to see against the French Camp Panthers on Thursday afternoon.
During a 19-5 victory by the Wolverines, Johnson was wanting to take the field one more time for competition prior to the Class 2A playoffs next week.

Eupora defeats Simmons at home

April 25, 2014

EUPORA – Rusty Johnson came up big at the dish and on the mound, leading the Eupora Eagles to a 19-2 win over Hollandale Simmons on Thursday during the first round of the Class 2A playoffs.
Johnson reached base three times. He scored two runs and had one RBI. He doubled in the third inning.
