Living the good life: Schaefer enjoyed two years at SHS

Basketball is life for Blair Schaefer.
Since a very early age, the Starkville Lady Yellowjacket has had a basketball in her hand and has been working to improve her game. The work has paid off resulting in Schaefer being selected the Starkville Daily News Area Player of the Year.

Williams' work makes Lady Jackets winners

During tryouts last May, Starkville Daily News' Area Coach of the Year selection Kristie Williams and her new crop of Lady Yellowjackets basketball players made a pact.
No matter what was ahead, the coach and players were going to give it their all in hopes of achieving success for SHS.

Bulldogs look toward future in basketball

Mississippi State head men's basketball coach Rick Ray is excited about what the future holds for his program.
In Ray's first two seasons, the Bulldogs struggled and had 13-game losing streaks in Southeastern Conference play in both seasons. Ray has had to work with a decimated roster as well.

It takes quite a bit of time from the end of a women's conference tournament until Selection Monday.
