Postseason opportunity: Jackets consider this time of year as new beginning

The regular season action may have come to a close for Starkville High School, but coach Greg Carter sees this time of year as a new beginning.
“Once the regular season ends it is like a new season begins,” Carter said. “Everybody is rejuvenated and ready to play again.”

Forward Breanna Richardson has made 21 starts in her freshman season with the Mississippi State women's basketball team.
With each passing game, Richardson is becoming more and more comfortable with MSU coach Vic Schaefer's system and what is expected.
Richardson put together one of her most impressive outings of the season for the Bulldogs Sunday in a 64-62 victory over No. 16 Vanderbilt.

Mississippi State did something that hadn't happened since 2005.
The No. 9 Bulldog tennis team knocked off No. 4 Georgia 4-3 Sunday night at the 2014 ITA National Indoor Championship in Houston, Texas.
It was the first time MSU beat UGA since 2005 and the first time the Bulldogs knocked off a top five team since beating Tennessee 6-1 in Starkville in 2011.
