Bulldogs keep Tigers at bay win 69-62 decision at home

The Mississippi State Bulldogs didn't lose focus when things did not go their way during a key moment of Sunday's game against the Missouri Tigers.
MSU's Breanna Richardson had just been hit with a technical foul for bouncing the basketball hard off the floor and Missouri's Morgan Eye stepped up to the line to make two free throws that tied the game at 44-44.

The Bulldogs dropped an 82-63 decision to in-state rival Ole Miss. It was MSU's fourth road loss this season and third in Southeastern Conference games.
The three SEC road losses have been by at least a 19-point margin.

Jones helps Lady Jackets win

ACKERMAN – She was surrounded by underclassmen the entire game, but Starkville High School's Kelsy Jones proved she belonged on the court with them on Saturday afternoon.
The freshman had a double-double with 17 points and 16 rebounds to help the Lady Yellowjackets defeat the East Webster Lady Wolverines 58-27 at the Mid-Mississippi Challenge in Ackerman.

Choctaw County coach pleased with Challenge

ACKERMAN – Choctaw County High School played host to the Mid-Mississippi Challenge featuring some of the best girls basketball teams from across the state.
“This is the seventh year for the tournament,” Choctaw County coach Gary Beals said. “This is probably the best lineup on paper. I don’t know about crowd wise or how games will turn out, but so far it has been real good.”

Yellowjackets get going for easy win at Shootout

ABERDEEN – The Starkville Yellowjackets followed up Friday's big win over top-ranked Madison Central with a dominating performance against Calhoun City at the Aberdeen Shootout on Saturday.
Even though the Jackets stumbled out of the gates a bit to start the game, they won a 74-40 decision and improved their overall record to 18-2.

West, East Oktibbeha split boys, girls rivalry outings

MABEN – One of the strongest high school rivalries in the state of Mississippi is the one between East and West Oktibbeha.
The two schools revived that rivalry on the basketball court Saturday.
In the first contest, it was the Lady Titans defeating West Oktibbeha 62-59.

MSU has struggled away from Starkville all season long and that trend continued on Saturday.
The Bulldogs dropped an 82-63 decision to in-state rival Ole Miss at Tad Smith Coliseum.

Ready makes return to MSU after 10 days

OXFORD – I.J. Ready has been on the shelf the past week.
The Mississippi State true freshman point guard suffered a concussion at Alabama on Jan. 15. He left in the first half of that game and didn’t return.
Ready was never cleared by the Bulldog medical staff and missed home games against Texas A&M and Auburn, both wins.
He saw his first action in 10 days.
