Starkville Academy’s football team is going from the boys of fall to the boys of spring tonight.
Competing at a football jamboree at Eupora High School, the Volunteers are looking forward to putting the pads back on to see just where the team stands.

Owen, Becker give MSU good one-two punch

Alison Owen is a student of the game of softball.
Just because the redshirt junior pitcher isn't in the circle for the Mississippi State Bulldogs, it doesn't mean she is just sitting waiting for the next opportunity.
Owen may be in the dugout, but she is focused on the strike zone, the tendency of opposing hitters and even how her teammates are going about their business in the circle.

MSU hosts Oral Roberts

Mississippi State's midweek game today will feature a couple of firsts.
Sophomore right hander Trevor Fitts is expected to make his first start for the No. 23 (Collegiate Baseball) Bulldogs as they take on Oral Roberts for the first time in program history. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at Dudy Noble Field.

Becker, Cooley, other Bulldogs extend season

The senior years of Jessica Cooley and Stephanie Becker were hanging in the balance Sunday night.
After finishing the regular season with a 32-22 record and not being able to participate in the Southeastern Conference Tournament, Cooley and Becker were left wondering if their softball careers with the Mississippi State Bulldogs was over.

Yellowjackets ready for challenge at State

Only one stop remains on Starkville High’s “road to the ring.”
That stop begins this afternoon as a dozen Yellowjacket tennis players descend on the Ridgeland Tennis Center for the opening matches of the Class 5A Individual State championship tournament.

East Webster claims Class 2A North title

BALDWYN – East Webster coach Lee Berryhill knew the importance of carrying a one game lead into Monday’s contest with Baldwyn. 
As the game ended, that advantage proved beneficial as the Lady Wolverines advanced to the Class 2A State championship after defeating the Lady Bearcats 5-3 in game two.

MSU softball makes field for NCAA Tourney

The Mississippi State Bulldogs learned late Sunday night that they will be included in the NCAA Tournament field for the second-straight year under head coach Vann Stuedeman.
MSU (32-22) will be playing at the Mobile (Ala.) Regional and take on Florida State in the first round at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
Mississippi Valley State and host South Alabama are the other teams in the field.
