Rain postpones first day action at McKee Park

Rain, rain go away seems to be the saying at McKee Park where a host of all-stars are looking to play.
Originally scheduled to begin Friday at 4:30 p.m., showers prevented the Dizzy Dean 8-year-old South State Tournament from getting underway.

Prospective MSU walk-on found dead in Tennessee

A prospective walk-on Mississippi State football player was found dead Thursday morning.
Mitchell Maxwell, 18, of Murfreesboro, Tenn., was found dead by his brother, Matthew, Thursday morning at their home.

Starkville National 8's excited for opportunity

You can practice and teach someone the game of baseball all day long, but without actually playing games, they will never truly understand the game. That is why the Starkville Baseball Association is fielding two teams this weekend at the Dizzy Dean 8-year-old All-Star South State championships.

Coach thinks American 8's can be 'solid'

When asked to describe his team of 8-year-old All-Stars, coach Charlie Williamson only has one word – solid.
This weekend Williamson and his Starkville American team will get the opportunity to put that solidity to the test as it takes part in the Dizzy Dean All-Star South State Tournament.

Blair Schaefer has had a busy summer with the basketball in her hand.
After participating in various camps and leagues with the Starkville Lady Yellowjackets, Schaefer has also scheduled a trip to Orlando, Fla., to play in a Amateur Athletic Union tournament this weekend.

Starkville's 10-year-olds assemble 'unique' team

The Starkville 10-year-old Dizzy Dean All-Stars have what coach Ben Knight calls a "unique" team.
Although the strength of the squad rests with a solid pitching staff, Knight said that doesn't mean it doesn't do other things well.

Starkville 7's devoting time to learn game

Brent DeWeese, the coach of the Starkville 7-year-old Dizzy Dean All-Stars, has been spending the majority of his time over the last week teaching the art of the game of baseball to his team.
The former player for Starkville High School and Mississippi State has gained knowledge of the sport over the years and looks to pass on those lessons to his young squad.
