Easley plans to stress fundamentals at basketball camp

Former Ole Miss women's basketball player Alliesha Easley has the desire to encourage girls and help them develop skills in the game she loves.
One of the ways Easley has chosen to do this is with a camp.
Easley will host a camp Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday at the Starkville Sportsplex for girls ages 7-16.

Some of those players have moved on and found themselves playing professional baseball.
There are 20 former Bulldogs either playing or managing in professional baseball.

Competition is over and the Starkville Americans All-Stars have returned home.
After claiming the 8-year-old Dizzy Dean South State Championship a couple weeks back, the team has spent the last few days in Southaven as participants in the World Series.

Hughes plans move into medical field

Nate Hughes calls the 4 1/2 years he spent in the National Football League an "awesome" experience.
Now it's time for a change for the former Starkville High School player.
If things work out like Hughes wants, he might actually work on injured football players one day as a doctor.
Hughes plans to apply for medical school this week and actually takes his MCAT on Thursday.

Strong behind center: SEC showcases many talented quarterbacks

There's a good argument that could be made that the Southeastern Conference has one of the better quarterback pools this season.
The league has always been known to have good running backs, and subpar signal callers. This season some of the best players under center play in the SEC.

SPRD sees stretch run for softball season

The stretch run for the Starkville Parks and Recreation softball season is taking place.
It won't be long before thoughts turn from softball to football.
Regular season and tournament softball is expected to continue through mid August, then the flag football season starts Sept. 16.
