Bulldogs continue building with Mullen

When Dan Mullen took over the Mississippi State football program, his main goal was to win and win in bunches.
Heading into his fifth season, the Bulldog head man is continuing to build a program that is accepting winning more than losing.
Mullen has reenergized a fan base that hadn't had much to cheer about and given the Bulldog players a reason to work hard.

Lee shares message of hard work at camp

Tyson Lee may be a football player and a former quarterback for Mississippi State, but he still had a message to share at a girls basketball camp.
Whether it's throwing a football or shooting a basketball, Lee told the girls at the Sportsplex on Tuesday that it's important to use hard work to go after dreams and goals.

Tuesday marked a series of firsts for the Starkville Academy Lady Volunteers soccer team.
Not only was it the first game of the season for the Lady Vols, it was their first time playing under new coach Cole Andrews and the first time taking the field after losing a strong senior class from last season.

MSU's Cohen committed to helping children's hospital

One of the things that the Mississippi State baseball team did during their recent stay in Omaha, Neb., for the College World Series was visit the children's hospital there.
It made quite an impression on MSU head baseball coach John Cohen.

Andrews era begins at SA

Starkville Academy will have a new coach to kick off the Lady Volunteers' 2013 soccer campaign.
Cole Andrews, a 2007 Starkville Academy graduate, will take over the reins for the Lady Vols, following Robert Garner's departure.
“It's an honor," Andrews said. "It's a wonderful opportunity with a sport I really care about and love."

Character of a Cougar: Christian values the center of SCS programs

July 28, 2013

It was one of those situations this past athletic year at Starkville Christian School where the Cougars got their cake and ate it too on the basketball court.
The SCS boys basketball team enjoyed its best season in school history in 2012-13 with a 17-3 record, but it was the manner in which the Cougars handled themselves to that mark is what made coach Alex Thompson the most proud.

Hutchinson hired as girls hoops coach at East Webster

East Webster has a new member among its coaching staff.
The departure of Mandy Jewell as the Lady Wolverines’ basketball coach created an opening that the school promptly filled by hiring Todd Hutchinson.

Bulldogs of summer: MSU bass team members to compete for national title

The summer time is full of fishing for a great many of Mississippi State students.
There are several MSU students who have turned he hobby into more of a summer time or weekend event.
The Bulldog bass team will send a pair of two-person teams to the Carhartt Bassmaster College Series National Championship this Thursday through Saturday.

Shockwave finish second at State

Swimmers on 17 teams from all across the state gathered July 18-21 on the campus of Delta State for the State Long Course Championships.
Among the group was Shockwave Aquatics out of Starkville and Tupelo. After four grueling days of competition, Shockwave found themselves with a second-place finish.
