Florida A&M plays MSU in Starkville

The Mississippi State Bulldogs have an opportunity to finish the week needing just two wins to get to double digits for the season.
MSU hosts to Florida A&M tonight at 7 p.m. inside Humphrey Coliseum and then host Florida Gulf Coast Thursday night at 8 p.m.

Bulldogs participate in chilly evening practice

While most people were inside sitting on their couch in the warm confines of their home and watching the end of the National Football League Sunday afternoon slate, the Mississippi State Bulldogs were practicing.
Bowl practice started just before 6 p.m. on a cold Sunday night. Steam was seen coming from the players mouths and the top of their heads.

Starkville fireman wins race, qualifies for Boston Marathon

Ask almost anyone and they know of the Boston Marathon.
It has arguably grown into one of the largest races in the world and when it takes place in 2014, there will be a Starkville resident among its ranks.

Mississippi State head coach Dan Mullen likes playing in a bowl game for number of reasons.
Obviously, it's one more game and a reward for what your team did during the regular season.
It also gives your team extra work in practice.

Bulldogs show toughness: MSU players don't quit against USM

They both got knocked around and knocked out of the game, but that didn't stop Kendra Grant and Dominique Dillingham from contributing to another victory for the Mississippi State women's basketball team.
Grant scored 13 points and Dillingham added 12 points as the Bulldogs defeated in-state opponent Southern Mississippi 71-61 Saturday night at Humphrey Coliseum.

MSU women are different on the court

There's a difference in the Mississippi State women's basketball team this season.
Anyone can look at the record and see that it's much improved at 10-1, but it's how the Bulldogs have gone about their business that's impressive.
On Saturday night, MSU was able to defeat the Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles 71-61 at Humphrey Coliseum and it was a very good victory for many reasons.

SHS boys dominate, beat Louisville 80-38

LOUISVILLE – After a slow start in the first quarter, the Starkville High School Yellowjackets turned it up in the second.
SHS outscored Louisville 24-16 in the second quarter, as it went on to pick up an 80-38 victory over the Wildcats on the road.
Jontavius Baker led the Jackets with 16 points. Raphael Leonard had 13, Fontavius Smith added 12 and Tyson Carter chipped in 11 points.

Lady Volunteers rally, defeat Hilcrest 36-31

JACKSON – The first half was not very kind to Glenn Schmidt and her Starkville Academy Lad Volunteers.
SA put that behind them and rallied from a 20-14 halftime deficit to beat the Hilcrest Christian Lady Cougars 36-31 Saturday night on the road in a district matchup.
Norah Kathryn Carroll led the Lady Vols with 18 points. Both Anna McKell and Sallie Kate Richardson had seven points for SA.

East Oktibbeha drops 58-31 game to Columbus

CRAWFORD - The East Oktibbeha Titans know that in order to get better you have to play the big boys.
They did just that Saturday as they welcomed Columbus to town.
While the Titans hung with their Class 6A opponent through the first half in the end the Falcons proved too much as they walked away with a 58-31 victory.
