MABEN – The West Oktibbeha Timberwolves and East Oktibbeha Titans came into Friday's game seeking their first victory as it has been a tough season for both teams.

MABEN – Heading into Friday night, coach Doug Wilson said he wanted to see his team compete.
East Webster listened to its coach and despite losing 42-31 to the Calhoun City Wildcats, the Wolverines never quit.

Eupora loses at home to Bruce

EUPORA – The Eupora Eagles were able to find some offense in the first half.
The second half was a different story.
The only points for Eupora in the second half came with 12 seconds left as it fell to the Bruce Trojans 25-20 in a Class 2A, Region 4 matchup Friday night.
With the loss, the Eagles are now 5-1 for the season and 0-1 in division play. They get Okolona at home next Friday night.

Choctaw County improves to 2-0 in region

PHILADELPHIA – The Choctaw County Chargers cruised their way to a 2-0 Class 3A, Region 5 start as they defeated Choctaw Central 35-6 on Friday night.
“We were able to jump out on them pretty quick and took a 35-0 lead into the half,” Chargers coach Adam Dillinger said. “We controlled the ballgame from the beginning. It was a good win for us.”

'Fun' situation for schools: SA, French Camp anticipate matchup

A change of pace is in store as French Camp Academy and Starkville Academy meet on the gridiron tonight.
Since the schools are in different associations, it does not play, but when an open date arose on both schedules it seemed to be the perfect solution.
For Volunteers coach Jeff Terrill, tonight brings the opportunity for something new and to have a little “fun.”

Jackets to take business trip when invading Hornets' nest

An interruption in a routine can sometimes be the worse nightmare for a football coach.
Starkville High School football coach Jamie Mitchell hopes it doesn't work against his team this week.
With the schedule being altered somewhat due to exams and the fact the Yellowjackets have to travel over three hours to play the Greenville-Weston Hornets tonight, it's a cause for concern for Mitchell.

East meets West: Oktibbeha County schools seek first win of the season

That's because tonight cross-county foes East and West Oktibbeha square off. Not only does the opportunity to beat your rival lie on the line, but this year both teams are winless and looking to score that first victory.

The Starkville Yellowjacket 9th graders mounted a second half comeback, but it fell short.
The Jackets couldn't contain West Point and the Green Wave went on to a 12-6 victory Thursday night to win the division.

Junior Volunteers drop home decision

The Starkville Academy 8th-9th grade Volunteers may have lost a 14-0 decision to Jackson Academy Thursday night, but coach Sam Wright never saw his team give up.
Starkville Academy never let Jackson Academy, which has a roster twice the size of the Vols, take control of the game.
The game was scoreless after the first quarter and Jackson Academy only had a 7-0 advantage at halftime.
