Lady Jackets find easy win in Columbus

COLUMBUS – There was nothing going to stand in front of the Starkville Lady Yellowjackets way, not the Columbus Lady Falcons or the rain.
The Lady Jackets battled a 45-minute delay for a leak in the roof and went on to a 62-38 victory over the Lady Falcons in a Class 6A, Region 3, District 4 matchup Friday night.

Bulldogs toppled by Horned Frogs

The Mississippi State Bulldogs kept digging themselves deeper and deeper into a hole, until it decided to stop and try and climb out.
MSU got nearly out of the hole on Thursday night, before it fell back down and were unable to recover.
The Bulldogs trailed the TCU Horned Frogs by 18 early in the second half, before cutting the lead down to three points with 2:28 left. 

Loss by MSU doesn't help SEC in Challenge

The Southeastern Conference has not fared well in the Big 12/SEC Challenge.
With Mississippi State's 71-61 loss to TCU on Thursday night, the SEC fell to 3-2 in the series.
Alabama got the conference off on the right note with a 76-64 victory over Texas Tech on Nov. 14, but Texas defeated Vanderbilt and Iowa State handled Auburn on Monday.

EMCC running backs form dangerous duo

SCOOBA - One is a former Starkville Yellowjacket and the other is a former West Point Green Wave.
It would probably be difficult for East Mississippi Community College running backs Preston Baker from Starkville and Lakenderic Thomas from West Point to get along in another situation.
When it comes to playing with the Lions, Baker and Thomas have become close.

French Camp play for state title

Nathan Wright and the French Camp Panthers have been in this position before.
The Panthers were in Jackson last season competing for the Class A State championship and here they are again this year.
The only difference is the manner in which French Camp got here and for Wright, this season has been just a “bit sweeter.”

Part of SA pride, All-Star Janssen

Starkville Academy football coach Jeff Terrill smiles when the subject of Tripp Janssen comes up.
When asked about his former Volunteer, Terrill's response is one of pride.
Having watched Janssen progress from a first-year starter his sophomore year to a two-way starter this season, it is easy for the coach to see the senior's growth.

Another challenge awaits: MSU to see how it fares with TCU

In the first real challenge of the season, men's basketball coach Rick Ray's Mississippi State Bulldogs didn't rise to the occasion.
The Bulldogs played on the road at Utah State and dropped an 87-68 decision to the Aggies in the first true road game of the season.
MSU gets another opportunity to play another quality opponent today.

Dillingham's effort sparks MSU women

Dominique Dillingham was giving so much effort in the first half of Wednesday night's game for the Mississippi State women's basketball team that her headband came flying off.
Dillingham played well enough for the Bulldogs that she put up a career-high 19 points during a 78-51 victory over the Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin' Cajuns at Humphrey Coliseum.

Hosket family enjoys time at French Camp

Bruce Hosket has enjoyed a front row seat in watching his sons Ben and Jesse play for state football championships.
As the offensive coordinator for the French Camp Academy Panthers, Bruce is pleased to have had a dual role as a father and coach for Ben and Jesse.

Seminoles seek to grind it out against Panthers in Jackson

Bubba Tacker has been coaching for 15 years and each one of those years has been with the Smithville Seminoles. It has also been 15 years since Smithville last competed for a state championship.
Tacker and his team are back in Jackson this season and ready to represent the small town that supports them each step of the way.
