MSU tricks, trounces Troy: Bulldogs roll to 62-7 win over Trojans

If Mississippi State was still thinking about last week's heart-breaking loss to Auburn, it didn't show on Saturday night.
The Bulldogs rolled past Troy 62-7 at Davis Wade Stadium in front of a sellout crowd.
"I felt, at practice, we had a much better week this last week," MSU head coach Dan Mullen. "We were going to improve from week three to four and it showed out there on the field."

A successful trick play can certainly change the momentum of a football game.
The Mississippi State Bulldogs found that to be true on Saturday night.
At the beginning of the second quarter of Saturday's 62-7 victory over the Troy Trojans, the Bulldogs benefitted from one of those plays at Davis Wade Stadium.

Mississippi State has 25th-straight sellout

Dan Mullen made it a goal of his to see every ticket for Davis Wade Stadium sold.
On Saturday night, he got another sellout.
The Bulldogs sold out DWS for the 25th straight time as they went onto a 62-7 victory over non-conference opponent Troy.
"I thank our crowd," Mullen said. "Our crowd gave us that home-field advantage again."

MSU's recruiting class rated No. 2 by Collegiate Baseball

Coming on the heels of an appearance in the College World Series National Championship Series, Mississippi State's recruiting class was recognized as one of the best in the nation.
Collegiate Baseball released its rankings on Friday and the Bulldogs were No. 2 on the list.
The 2012-13 ranking class is the highest in school history. MSU's 1994 class was ranked No. 1 in the country.

Vols drop 20-8 decision to Chiefs

SENATOBIA – The Starkville Academy Volunteers managed to shut out Magnolia Heights in the second half Friday night, but the damage had been done in the first as the homestanding Chiefs won a 20-8 decision.
The Vols held a dangerous Magnolia Heights offensive to only 20 points and eight first downs on a rainy night. The Chiefs were able to score 75 points last week.

Timberwolves fall to Tigers at home

MABEN – Coach Danny Crawford knew West Oktibbeha was in for a battle as they prepared to face a tough Noxapater team on Friday.
Adding to the challenge was the inclement weather that had plagued Oktibbeha County leading up to the game.
West Oktibbeha was never able to get traction on the wet, soggy field as the Tigers recorded a 42-0 victory.

East Webster gets 25-13 win

CALEDONIA – The East Webster Wolverines continued the winning ways as they moved to 5-0 after defeating Caledonia 25-13.

Bobcats blank Titans 37-0

CRAWFORD – One word could describe the playing conditions around the state Friday night – sloppy.
At East Oktibbeha’s home opener against the Sebastopol Bobcats, the poor conditions troubled the Titans throughout the game, contributing to their 37-0 loss.
There was a weather delay in pre-game that caused kickoff to be put off for 20 minutes.
