Russell travels with MSU, but Prescott goes distance

AUBURN, Ala. – Senior quarterback Tyler Russell traveled with Mississippi State and dressed out.
He just didn't play.
Russell missed last week's home opener after suffering a concussion against Oklahoma State in week one. 
MSU head coach Dan Mullen said Russell was not physically cleared to play. 
For the second week in a row, sophomore Dak Prescott got the start under center. 

Bulldogs have three players make All-Tournament team

There was another indication develop Saturday night of just how much potential the young players of the Mississippi State volleyball program have.
Three State players made the Bulldog Invitational All-Tournament team and they were two freshmen and one sophomore.
The Most Valuable Player of the event was freshman middle blocker Chelsea Duhs.

Bulldogs top Terriers in three sets

Mississippi State’s volleyball team made quick work of Wofford on Saturday. In three straight sets, the Bulldogs knocked off the Terriers 25-8, 25-12 and 25-18.

MSU plays Auburn in 'big game'

One of Dan Mullen's biggest wins as the Mississippi State head coach came last year against Auburn.
Today, Mullen's Bulldogs (1-1) face off against the Tigers in Auburn (2-0) at Jordan-Hare Stadium in the first Southeastern Conference game for both teams. Kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m. and can be seen on ESPN2.

Starkville High School football coach Jamie Mitchell knows how important Darius Grayer is to his football team.
When Grayer was injured and wasn't able to be a factor during last week's game at West Point, Mitchell missed him.
Grayer, still not at 100 percent, was involved in a key moment of Friday's 34-14 victory by the Yellowjackets against the Southaven Chargers.

Volunteers respond in important outing

Coach Jeff Terrill said Friday’s game against Hillcrest Christian was probably the most important contest thus far in the season.
The Starkville Academy Volunteers took that to heart as they defeated the Cougars 49-8.
