Weather must be considered by the coaches

It can be a little difficult for high school football coaches to plan a practice this time of year in Mississippi.
Although the weather can be somewhat predictable with hot and humid conditions existing and the chance of a thunderstorm popping up at any time, coaches can be caught in tough positions as to whether to send their teams to the practice field or not.

Huge shoes to fill: Bulldogs lack experience at wide receiver

Mississippi State football coach Dan Mullen knows that some players are going to have to "fill some big shoes."
The Bulldogs lost their top three wide receivers from last with the departures of Chad Bumphis, Chris Smith and Arceto Clark.
There are several receivers who played in supporting roles last year, but this is their year. 
They have very little experience.

MSU's Huddleston knows Mississippi heat, humidity

The heat and humidity of the Mississippi summer can be hard on an athlete.
When it comes to kicking around a soccer ball, Tiffany Huddleston has been doing that for most of her life in the hottest part of the year.
Huddleston has had to deals with temperatures in the 90s and heat index values over 100, while competing with the Starkville Academy Lady Volunteers and Mississippi Fire.

One conversation with Chad Peterson and it is easy to see just how much Starkville Academy means to him, and that love is not going anywhere despite a change of scenery this football season.

Coach Dan Mullen has come accustomed to how the first scrimmage in fall training camp is going to go.
The Mississippi State head coach took his team to Davis Wade Stadium Thursday morning for the first scrimmage of the fall.

Starkville Academy loses home decision

August 8, 2013

It wasn't the type of start the Starkville Academy Lady Volunteers were looking for on the softball field Thursday afternoon.
Plagued by errors, the Lady Vols ultimately dropped a 12-2 decision to the Heritage Academy Lady Patriots.

Positions not settled: Hevesy wants to see MSU offensive linemen compete every day for play

Offensive line positions for the Mississippi State Bulldogs are still up for grabs according to offensive line coach John Hevesy, but there are a number of players that could seeing playing time in 2013.
There are several players who are going to get definite playing time this year starting with senior left guard Gabe Jackson.

When Justin Malone arrived at Mississippi State, the offensive line's time together ended when the pads were taken off.
The sophomore right guard has seen things turn around for the Bulldog offensive line. They have gelled on and off the field.

When it comes to the sport of soccer, the transition can be easier to make than others.
