Football and life are the hot topics at the Starkville Sportsplex this week.
Sleepy Robinson, a former Mississippi State University quarterback, and some of his friends have been spending their time hosting a football skills and life camp at the complex.

Former Mississippi State quarterbacks Sleepy Robinson and Greg Plump have some things in common.
Robinson and Plump were roommates during their time in Starkville, they both have thrown a touchdown pass in a bowl game, both were high school coaches on the sideline at Durant.
They are together again in Starkville this week at the Robinson Football/Life Skills camp at the Sportsplex.

Sleepy Robinson, Greg Plump, Robert Young, Charlie Davidson, Eric Moulds made a name for themselves during their football careers with the Mississippi State Bulldogs.
After their playing careers were over, they all went their separate ways and are successful in various areas of their lives.

MSU's Cohen prepares team for Super Regional

John Cohen admitted Monday night that he probably couldn't name in players from Virginia's baseball team.
The fifth-year Mississippi State head coach was so locked into the three other teams at the Starkville Regional that he didn't have time to look ahead to Virginia.
It may also have something to do with a superstition.

MSU's Girodo delivers solid outing out of pen

Mississippi State was going to have to have a great outing by its bullpen.
Chad Girodo delivered.
Girodo and the No. 14 (Collegiate Baseball) Bulldogs beat Central Arkansas 6-1 Monday night to win the Starkville Regional and advanced to the Super Regional round.
The No. 4 seed Bears (42-22) beat No. 1 seed MSU (46-18) 5-2 on Sunday night to force the game seven.

It was worth the wait for the Mississippi State Bulldogs.
After losing a 5-2 decision to Central Arkansas Sunday night and having a bad taste in their mouths for 24 hours, the Bulldogs got the job done on Monday with a 6-1 victory over the Bears on Monday night at Dudy Noble Field.

Lowrey announces resignation as coach at West Oktibbeha

Adam Lowrey has announced his resignation after five years at the helm of West Oktibbeha football.
Looking back on his time with the Timberwolves, Lowrey is appreciative of the young men that have come through the program and is happy that he had the chance to somehow influence their lives.

League underway at the Sportsplex

Everyone knows about March Madness, but the Starkville Parks and Recreation Department has found a way to start and maintain its version of June Madness.
With a high school basketball league running through the month, teams from all over the area get to keep their skills sharp in the offseason.
