Facial hair has always been synonymous with baseball.
Rollie Fingers, Al Hrabosky and Brian Wilson all come to mind when you think about professional baseball players and facial hair. 
Although it took some convincing, this season the Mississippi State baseball team is trying its best to emulate some of the great Major League Baseball players with facial hair.

Despite what was going on at the time he returned to Starkville to work with his alma mater on June 7, 2008, Cohen believed the Bulldogs could win again and they have.

SSA Bulldogs look ahead to regionals

World Cup qualifying action is taking over the soccer world, but here in Starkville another level of competition is in the forefront.
Competing at the highest level, the Starkville Bulldogs Under-16 team recently won the Division 1 (Select) Mississippi State Cup. With the win, the team advances to the regional championships which will be held in Oklahoma.

Thompson wants to see Cougars run fast break

There's no secret to how coach Alex Thompson wants his basketball team to play.
Any individual who watches the Starkville Christian Cougars for very long knows the style he likes to see.
If the Cougars are not running full force up and down the court, Thompson is probably not getting what he wants.

Garner gets to coach Jackets

It has been almost 14 years since Travis Garner has called the Starkville area home, but that is all about to change.
After graduating from Starkville Academy in 1999 and heading off to college, Garner is returning to his former stomping grounds to assume the role of head baseball coach at Starkville High School.

Bolin gave best for love of game

Nutt leads Indians to region title

It is a big risk to hire an unproven coach.
The Ackerman Indians took that risk this past season as it hired Patrick Nutt to lead their baseball team. In the end, that risk paid off hugely, as the Indians finished 15-11 overall and won Class 2A, Region 5, District 4 with a 9-1 record.
Nutt was recognized as Starkville Daily News High School Baseball Coach of the Year for that accomplishment.
