SHS sends 16 athletes to Class 5A State meet

The Starkville High School Yellowjackets have one last track meet to run before hanging up their shoes this track season.
With 16 athletes in tow, the Jackets take to the track today for Class 5A State championship competition at Pearl High School.

East Webster hosts Baldwyn for State softball berth

Only one series stands between the East Webster Lady Wolverines and a possible date in the Class 2A State championship.
East Webster will embark on that journey, starting today, as it welcomes Baldwyn to its home field for a best-of-three series and the Lady Wolverines are ready for the battle ahead.

Another opportunity: More experienced Bulldogs host NCAA regional again

The Mississippi State men's tennis team is one year older and has one more year of experience under its belt.
The Bulldogs also have experienced the feeling of hosting a regional.
MSU hosted a regional last season, but were unable to take advantage of the home court advantage.

Even he has been surprised a bit with the level of success enjoyed with the Bulldogs as a freshman.

The last two weekends have been a roller coaster ride for the Mississippi State Bulldogs. 
The No. 24 (Collegiate Baseball) Bulldogs (36-13, 13-11) suffered a sweep to the hands of the Vanderbilt Commodores two weekends ago. They turned around and did a little sweeping themselves and took all three from Alabama last weekend.

Holder the closer: MSU pitcher gets more responsibility

Jonathan Holder established himself as the closer for the Mississippi State baseball team as a freshman.
In his sophomore season, the right hander is seeing more and more responsibility.
Most closers only feel comfortable when it's a save situation. Holder wants the ball regardless of what the situation is.

Robinson camp to focus on life as well as football

William Robinson was looking for someone to be the face of a camp to teach young boys the skills of life along with football.
He decided to turn to his good friend with the same name William Robinson, but this happens to be former Mississippi State quarterback William "Sleepy" Robinson.

Bulldogs play for positioning in SEC, NCAA Tournament

The college baseball regular season is coming down the homestretch and there is still a lot to be decided.
The Southeastern Conference Tournament seeds are no where close to being set in stone. The No. 24 (Collegiate Baseball) Mississippi State Bulldogs (36-13, 13-11) are trying to solidify their position in the SEC Tournament, as well as, in the NCAA Tournament.

Some of them have more significance than others.

Indians eliminated by Hornets

ACKERMAN – The Loyd Star Hornets stood between the Ackerman Indians and advancement in the Class 2A playoffs.
With the series tied 1-1, the pair of high school baseball teams faced off on Tuesday and at the end, it was the Hornets who moved one step ahead in the playoffs following their 10-5 victory.
