Starkville Academy aces Copiah on home courts

Starkville Academy honored four of its own as it battled Copiah Academy on the home tennis courts.
Tuesday’s contest with the Colonels marked the last time a quartet of seniors, including Matt Jones, Mary Austin Barber, Laura Austin Crane and Vicky Sun would pick up a racket for a regular season match at Starkville Academy.

Evan Mitchell gets the nod

It has been a while since Evan Mitchell has pitched for Mississippi State.
The junior right hander will get his first opportunity in over a month when he takes the mound for the No. 17 (Collegiate Baseball) Bulldogs against the Memphis Tigers at Autozone Park in Memphis today at 6:30 p.m.

Jackets roll Green Wave with 6-run 6th inning

Six was a magic number for the Starkville Yellowjackets as the team posted six runs in the sixth inning to knock off visiting West Point 9-2.
With a win so close to the playoffs, Jackets’ coach Brian Jones is hoping the momentum of success will carry over into the team’s next appearance.

Vols take third at own SA Invitational

Harrison McBride wasn't sure what he'd be able to provide the Starkville Academy Volunteers on Monday.
It turns out that he was able to give the Vols a lift.
McBride shot a 75 in the No. 4 position, good for third place individually, as Starkville Academy carded a 317 and finished third as a team at the Starkville Academy Invitational. The event was hosted by the Starkville Country Club.

Goodwin returns home for spring practice at MSU

Will Goodwin's path in football led him back home.
Following a busy athletic career at Starkville Academy, Goodwin enjoyed a two-year stint as the kicker for the Itawamba Community College football team.

Renfroe swings good bat for Bulldog baseball

Hunter Renfroe has been putting on a show in 2013.
The Mississippi State junior outfielder is batting .407 with 13 home runs and 42 RBI.

MSU defeats Auburn in front of huge crowd

April 21, 2013

After dropping its first three Southeastern Conference series, Mississippi State has fought back in a big way.
It wasn't more evident than Saturday afternoon.
The No. 18 (Collegiate Baseball) Bulldogs beat the Auburn Tigers 6-0 in front of 14,562, the second largest crowd at Dudy Noble Field, to win the three-game Southeastern Conference series.

SMITH COLUMN: Bulldogs produce key two-out hit

There have been times when the Mississippi State Bulldogs have struggled to come up with key base hits during the baseball season.
Even though the Bulldogs left the bases loaded twice on Saturday, they produced in a key situation during the third inning of a 6-0 victory over the Auburn Tigers.

Maroon-White Game Time to shine

Tyler Russell has proven that he is capable of leading the Mississippi State Bulldogs.
On Saturday it was another quarterback that shined.
Junior walk-on quarterback Sam Cowart led the Maroon team to a 38-28 win over the White team in MSU's annual Maroon-White Spring Game at Davis Wade Stadium.

New group of receivers targets of signal callers

It appears that Mississippi State quarterback Tyler Russell has a new group of wide receivers to distribute the football around to this fall.
After losing such talent as Chad Bumphis, Arceto Clark and Chris Smith, a drop off could have happened for the Bulldogs.
During Saturday's Maroon-White Spring Football Game at Davis-Wade Stadium, MSU had a different look at wide receiver.
