SA girls win, set for meet PCS for title

CLINTON – Even though the game was closer than usual for the Starkville Academy girls, the Lady Volunteers never lost sight of their goal.

Starkville Academy's quest of finishing the season undefeated as the Mississippi Association of Independent Schools Overall State champions has one more hurdle to clear.

Bulldogs remain hot, down visiting Hawks

On a day where the temperatures were in the 30s and snow flurries were seen, it didn't cool down the Mississippi State baseball team.

The No. 9 (Collegiate Baseball) Bulldogs fought off the cold weather for a 10-0 win over the St. Joseph's Hawks.

It is the fourth game this season in which MSU (12-0) has scored in double digits and third in a row. MSU only managed five a season ago.

Bulldogs hope Rebs bring out their best

The Mississippi State men's basketball team wants to get back its competitive spirit.

One thing that could bring that about is a matchup against the arch rival.

The Bulldogs (7-20 overall, 2-13 Southeastern Conference) host in-state rival Ole Miss (21-7, 10-5) today. Tipoff is set for 4 p.m. and can be seen on Fox Sports Net.

The Mississippi State’s women’s basketball team pulled off a feat not achieved by the team in three years on Thursday evening.

In 2010, the Bulldogs defeated Ohio State in the NCAA tournament and since that time, the program has not been able to recreate the feat.

Brewster leaves Mississippi State for Florida State

The Mississippi State football staff was in place after the hiring of wide receivers coach Billy Gonzales.

That is all the past now.

It was reported on Wednesday and confirmed on Thursday, that MSU tight ends coach and assistant head coach Tim Brewster is heading to coach at Florida State.

Bulldogs learning as wins pile up in baseball

The Mississippi State Bulldogs are winning baseball games and learning more about themselves also with each game.

MSU, which is No. 9 in the Collegiate Baseball poll, used 22 different players, including pitchers, during Wednesday's 17-5 victory over Rhode Island and the competition seems to be heating up at several different positions.

SHS drops home game to Choctaw

There were plenty of runs to be had at the Starkville softball field Thursday night, but there wasn't enough to give the Lady Yellowjackets a victory.

In only its second game of the season, SHS lost a 24-12 decision to Choctaw Central.

The Lady Jackets only scored one run to the same team last season, so head coach Wendy Jolly considers it an improvement.
