Hard work leads SA's Evans to North Alabama

The hard work of Starkville Academy girls soccer player Tiffany Evans has been recognized.

At her position as a center midfielder for the Lady Volunteers, Evans had to think quick and react on her feet.

Volunteers travel to take on Jackson Academy in soccer semis

The Starkville Academy Volunteers were hit with adversity on Monday when one of their senior players went down with an injury early in their Class AAA soccer match against Pillow Academy.

Even though the Vols had Drew Pellum suffer a broken leg and not be able to finish the season, they rallied together to pick up a 4-0 victory over Pillow Academy and advanced in the postseason.

Yellowjackets work hard in preparation for baseball season

The Starkville Yellowjackets are anxious to see if the hard work they have put in pays off.

As the coach Brian Jones era begins at SHS, the players have bought into the system and look to put what they've learned into action.

Jones has been pleased with the work ethic of the Jackets.

Lady Vols advance at AAA

JACKSON – Patience was the key in the Starkville Academy Lady Volunteers victory on Tuesday evening.

Jackson Prep attempted to take SA out of its comfort zone by slowing the ball game down. That plan did not work as the Lady Vols overcame the change in pace to claim a Class AAA first round victory 47-32.

Eupora, East Webster boys see season end

TAYLORSVILLE – The Eupora Eagles were a bit short-handed when they tipped off against Taylorsville.
In the end that was one of the deciding factors as the Eagles dropped a 51-43 contest.

Bulldogs shut out visiting Grambling Tigers

The No. 13 (Collegiate Baseball) Bulldogs took a 2-0 win over the Grambling Tigers Tuesday afternoon at Dudy Noble Field.

The deck is stacked against the Mississippi State men's basketball.

They have lost 10-straight for the first time since 1982. Sophomore forward Roquez Johnson was suspended indefinitely on Monday and junior guard Jalen Steele has missed the last three games due to a suspension. His status is unknown for today's Southeastern Conference game at Alabama.

Williams gives Bulldogs effort on a bad knee

Carnecia Williams knows there are going to be some nights when she plays in pain.

As her knee cap slides in and out of socket, the Mississippi State women's basketball redshirt sophomore has still given what she can on the court this season.

Williams played 36 minutes on Sunday and led the Bulldogs with 13 points, eight rebounds and three steals during a 63-41 loss to LSU.
