JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Mississippi State head coach Dan Mullen has not had the best of luck against ranked teams.
It didn't get much better on Tuesday.
The Bulldogs (8-5) fell 34-20 to No. 21 (Associated Press) Northwestern (10-3) in the TaxSlayer.com Gator Bowl at EverBank Field.
Mullen's record against ranked teams dropped to 2-17 all-time at Mississippi State.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Gator Bowl may not have gone in Mississippi State’s favor, but there was one bright spot in the form of the running game.
In a day where the passing game was not working, the Bulldogs looked towards Josh Robinson and LaDarius Perkins to establish an offensive surge on the ground.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Taking with them a 29-22 record, the 2012 Mississippi State senior class finished as the winningest senior class in over a decade.
“We didn’t finish this thing out like we wanted to, but those seniors had a good run here at Mississippi State," Bulldogs running back LaDarius Perkins said. "Those were some great seniors that we had.”
