JACKSON – It turned out to be an easy Class 5A, Region 2, District 6 opener for the Starkville High School Yellowjackets.
After beginning the season with a 1-3 record against tough non-division competitive, Starkville went on the road to defeat the Jackson Lanier Bulldogs 48-0 on Friday night.
The Starkville Academy Volunteers may have been an underdog in Friday night's matchup with Jackson Prep.
Starkville Academy’s head coach Jeff Terrill talked to his team before the game about how the Volunteers wanted to play the game.
“We need to play our football,” Terrill said. “We need to play hard, fundamental football.”
COLUMBUS – For the East Oktibbeha Titans, the road to the playoffs just got a lot harder.
The Titans fell to Class A, Region 3, District 4 rival West Lowndes 14-0 Friday night at Panther Field.
The Titans are now 2-4 overall and 1-2 in the district, while the Panthers improved to 3-2 overall and 2-1 in district play.
