The first two games of the football season have taken a toll on the Starkville Yellowjackets physically.
Not only did the Jackets not have their best offensive player, quarterback Gabe Myles, against Madison Central because of a sprained ankle, they lost their best defensive player, David Fair, during the game because of a knee injury.
The Starkville Academy football team is looking to sure up its offense this week against Magnolia Heights.
The Volunteers (1-1) and Chiefs (1-1) meet in Senatobia tonight for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff.
SA is coming off a 19-6 loss to rival Heritage Academy last week, while Magnolia Heights beat Kirk Academy 49-20 last week.
The Ackerman Indians host a Class A opponent tonight so the chances of them improving to 3-0 are pretty good.
Not when it comes to hosting cross-county rival French Camp at 7:30 p.m. as far as Ackerman football coach Adam Dillinger is concerned. The visiting Panthers have a 1-1 record.

The Starkville Academy Volunteers and Magnolia Heights School Chiefs come into Friday night's 7 p.m. game with similar resumes.
Both teams are 1-1, but the Chiefs are coming off a 49-20 victory over Kirk Academy, while the Volunteers suffered a 19-6 loss to Heritage.
SA took last year's game 22-0 in Starkville, but this year the Vols travel to Senatobia.
The weather has certainly played havoc with Southeastern Conference football teams trying to prepare for season-opening games and it caused the postponement of one of those outings.
The Texas A&M Aggies were hoping to get a jump on everyone else in the SEC with a game against Louisiana Tech in Shreveport, La., tonight (Thursday).

Tyler Russell officially becomes "the man" for Mississippi State as he leads the Bulldogs onto the field for the first time as the unquestioned leader of the team.
The hits just keep coming for Mississippi State basketball this offseason.Â
The Bulldogs announced on Tuesday that incoming freshman Fred Thomas will have surgery today to repair a stress fracture in his right foot. This announcement comes on the heals of Jacoby Davis being lost for the season with a torn ACL.
In Thomas' case, it appears he will be back in time for the 2012-13 season.
ACKERMAN – The Ackerman High School volleyball team had an opportunity to knock off a Class 5A squad, but nerves seemed to get the best of them.
The Lady Indians dropped a 3-0 match to Starkville High School Tuesday night.
Ackerman jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first set, but the Lady Yellowjackets fought back and took control of the first set.
It hasn't been the start of the football season that Starkville High School and Starkville Academy wanted.
For two teams that played for state championships last season, it's somewhat surprising to see the
programs a combined 1-3 after two games.

Mississippi State is set for the opening to the 2012 season with Jackson State coming to town this Saturday. On Monday, head coach Dan Mullen took to the podium to talk about the start of the season of college football.
It will also be a return to the field for offensive lineman Tobias Smith.
