The gathering of over 1,100 media types set to grill the league’s head coaches and top athletes began Tuesday afternoon with SEC Commissioner Mike Slive addressing the media.

The 10-year-old Dizzy Dean State Tournament offered just a hint of what Starkville is capable of doing if allowed to host other All-Star event in the future.
Randy Carlisle, the coach of Starkville's 10-year-old All-Stars and active member of the Starkville Baseball Association, was encouraged by the feedback from the state tournament hosted by the city at McKee Park two weeks ago.

Mississippi State once again has a full baseball staff as head coach John Cohen has hired Jake Wells, the university announced Monday.

Exiting spring practice the Mississippi State Bulldogs felt pretty good about the work they had done and the questions they had answered.Â
The newcomers were working in nicely and the rising seniors were leading, teaching, and coaching the youngsters.Â
And while State made progress on a multitude of fronts, the offensive line remained in doubt.Â

Since the day he signed with Mississippi State, Tyler Russell has patiently waited his turn to take the field as the leader of the Bulldogs. Â
The former Gatorade Player of the Year in Mississippi has seen spot duty for State and even started a game or two, but he hasn’t taken on the role of being “the man” until now.Â

Getting a college scholarship can be a life-changing event, but for three football players its a chance to keep playing.
Starkville High School graduates, Michael Newman, Eddie Brown Jr. and Scottie Pittman received football scholarships from Concordia College in Selma, Ala.
