Gwendolyn Perkins â€¨On 2/15/2014, Dr. Gwendolyn Ruth Kirtley Perkins, age 95, passed away inÂ Cave Spring,Â Georgia. After a long and exciting life that was full of pursuing knowledge and adventure, Gwen's time came to an end.
Susan Kean Moates, Â long time resident of West Point, Mississippi, passed away at the Waterford in Ridgeland, Mississippi on February Â 27th Â 2014 Â . Mrs. Moates was 94 years old. Â She grew up in the small community of Sessums, Mississippi, seven miles from the Mississippi State Campus, Â where her father had settled after moving from Canada.
George Leonard McClain, Jr., 89, died after a brief illness on February 23, 2014, at OCH Regional Medical Center.Â He had been a Starkville resident since 1953.Â He was an avid sportsman, golfer, fisherman, and MSU sports enthusiast.
Mr. McClain was born in Choctaw County on May 28, 1924, to George Leonard McClain, Sr. and Cora Ester Fondren McClain.
Earl Richard Cooley graduated to his Heavenly home Saturday, February 22, 2014 just shy of his 96th Birthday.Â The family is tremendously grateful for the loving and compassionate care he received in his final days at the Inpatient Hospice unit at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, MS.
Mrs. Hazel Palmer Kemp, 89, died Thursday, February 20, 2014, at Oktibbeha County Hospital in Starkville, MS. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, February 22nd, at Harmony Baptist Church, with Rev. Jerry Lundy officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Porter Funeral Home. Interment will be in Harmony Cemetery.
Rachel Henderson Bullman, 80, died on February 17, 2014 at her home after a lengthy battle with Parkinsonâ€™s disease.
