I was skeptical about running one of my favorite recipes in the Taste section because I wanted to keep this one to myself, but on such a special occasion, I must acknowledge this delicious dish passed on to me by my mother who celebrates a birthday today, Feb. 6.

The language of love written by William Shakespeare will be on display at Mississippi State University as Theatre MSU presents “Love Letters from Shakespeare: A Night of Music, Dance and Sonnets” at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 14-16 on the McComas Hall main stage.

Memories of family hike, discovery of special sanctuary

I want to take you down memory lane with my family — Daddy, Mama, Johnny and me — deep into the woods of the National Noxubee Wildlife Refuge in the early 1950s which led us to the discovery of a very special sanctuary. One of our favorite things to do as a family was to take a long Sunday afternoon hike back down to the refuge.

Let me introduce you to Mr. Ferdinand Barry, a tinsmith sculptor. He was the very talented artist who created this very large arm and hand that has been on the tall steeple of the Second Baptist Church for many years. The church's motto is “Our feet grow dusty in the path of service.” A lovely 1974-75 yearbook was dedicated to Rev. J.H.
