SFA Symposium: The final chapter

December 11, 2012

I guess it’s finally time to finish the story on the SFA Symposium weekend.

I have done my best to make it last as long as I could, but weeks away from the new year I suppose I have to let go. Sigh.

Travails of an online shopper

December 9, 2012

I’ve been sidelined for going on three weeks with the multiple “epizooties” which means Christmas shopping has been placed on the back burner. After hearing about the explosion in online shopping and all the great deals in Cyber town, I figured that route may be the only way I’ll get to check off Santa’s gift list this year.

An unlikely holiday turkey

November 28, 2012

Many years ago — shoot, nearly 10 — my brother and I woke on Thanksgiving morning to the clucking of chickens and, strangely, the chortle of a turkey. The beach roaches scattered onto the sand (“beach roaches” makes them sound more happy-go-lucky and hapless than when you see one perched on your toothbrush) as we stumbled out of our bamboo hut to the front porch.
