As the daughter of a home economist, Hellen Polk grew up “helping” in the kitchen and in the garden.
One day this week, my mother-in-law came home to a huge bucket of sweet potatoes on the porch. A neighbor had been gleaning after the pickers had worked the fields.
It seems appropriate that October is Dental Hygiene Month since this month does have one of the biggest candy selling holidays in it.
