Manning’s fate met with mixed emotions

A group of protesters gathered at the Oktibbeha County Courthouse on Monday to plead for the release of death row inmate Willie Jerome Manning.

Manning faces execution at 6 p.m. today for the 1992 murders of two Mississippi State University students.

County elementary schools earn accolades

Oktibbeha County School District Conservator Margie Pulley will recognize students, faculty and staff at West Oktibbeha County Elementary School and East Oktibbeha County Elementary School for awards they received in Jackson at the district’s monthly meeting today at noon in the district offices.

Local housing market stable

Bonds set for robbery suspects

Bonds have been set for five suspects arrested in an armed robbery investigation.
Oktibbeha County Sheriff's Department investigators arrested the suspects, which included four from Starkville and one from Chicago, following a reported armed robbery early Wednesday morning at a Bluecutt Road residence west of Starkville.
