The Starkville High School RoboJackets have claimed their third consecutive BEST (Boosting Engineering, Science and Technology) state championship after competing at the Mississippi BEST Robotics competition Saturday.
In addition to the overall championship, the RoboJackets captured first place in robotics performance, booth design and interview and won the most robust robot award.

Glenda Clark furthers arts, dance

Those who know her say Glenda Clark is one of Starkville’s biggest patrons of the arts.
Clark has served with the Starkville Area Arts Council (SAAC) in several ways, from helping with its annual Arts Gala to hosting membership events in her home.
At SAAC’s most recent Arts Gala, Ellen Boles presented Clark with the SAAC 2014 Award of Excellence in the Arts.

SSD state scores hold largely steady

Starkville School District’s accountability ratings from the Mississippi Department of Education held steady at a “C” grade for the district as a whole, with individual schools either holding steady or falling one letter grade, but officials say that in light of changes to the rating system, the letters don’t tell the whole story.

MSU plans Preparathon for Saturday

Mississippi State University’s Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) will have its Preparathon on Saturday near the A.J. Pitts Tennis Centre on the MSU campus.
The event will include a free emergency preparedness fair as well as a half marathon, a 5k, and a family fun run. The fair runs from 8 a.m.-noon, while the races begin at 7 a.m.
