According to Google, which released a report Tuesday on the top trending terms of the year, the top term overall was "Robin Williams," after the well-known and popular comedian died in August. No. 2 was "World Cup," the global soccer tournament held in Brazil in June. Third on the list was "Ebola," the highly contagious virus.

Flo Henley remembers the apartment where Angela Lindsey used to live with her four children. 
She was part of the Starkville Habitat for Humanity family selection committee that visited the apartment, and she said it only had two rooms, with Lindsey’s four children all living in one of those rooms. They slept, she said, on a bunk bed and one single bed with a trundle.

County OKs comprehensive plan

Oktibbeha County supervisors put to bed its comprehensive planning process Monday during its last scheduled meeting of 2014.
The board unanimously approved a resolution establishing the county’s comprehensive plan, which is meant to be a roadmap for land use and development in the county for the next 20-25 years.

‘Geocaching’ used to clean park

A group of local Geocachers gathered Saturday to participate in an event to pick up trash in a local park.
Nathan Lewis, who organized the event, said that Geocaching is a “21st Century scavenger hunt using GPS units.” All that it needed to participate, he said, is a GPS and a thrill for the outdoors.
