Familiar faces vie for city post

One finalist for Starkville’s vacant community development director position is seeking a promotion within the city ranks, while another is trying to obtain a city position for the second time in less than six months.

Stations of Cross set for Good Friday

A search on YellowPages.com yields nearly 100 churches and places of worship in Starkville, many of them Christian. This Good Friday, over a distance of about one mile, 11 of those Christian churches will become one, carrying a wooden cross with them.

Local student admitted to U.S. Naval Academy

A new chapter in life will begin for senior Stuart Woomer in July when he enrolls in the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md.

Woomer, a Starkville High School senior, successfully applied an earned admission to the Naval Academy. He will leave for the Academy on July 1.
