Man arrested in sex offenses

A Webster County man has been arrested on suspicion of sex offenses against a minor.

Ryan Gregg, 25, of Bellefontaine, was arrested Friday on suspicion of one count of sexual battery and two counts of sexual enticement of a minor.

SPD books woman for domestic violence

February 11, 2014

Starkville Police arrested woman late Friday after a familial argument turned violent.

Police arrested 31-year-old Raven Henton on suspicion of aggravated domestic violence after she reportedly slashed her husband with a knife during a late-night argument at Regal Inn on Highway 182.

Berkeley reps visit MSU on Monday

Officials from the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory in California visited Mississippi State University Monday to discuss possibilities for collaboration between the two research institutions.

Keenum briefs Rotarians on progress at university

Mississippi State University President Mark Keenum visited the Starkville Rotary Club Monday to share an update on the university’s goals and accomplishments.

The university, Keenum said, continues to excel at its three-tiered mission for learning, service and research. He said the university and its branches and methods of outreach played a crucially-important role throughout Mississippi.

OCSD investigates possible arson - 3 abandoned structure fires cause concern of foul play

A recent trio of late-night fires in abandoned buildings has made some county fire officials concerned that foul play might be afoot.

Oktibbeha County Fire Services Coordinator Kirk Rosenhan said the concern stems from three fires in the last several weeks — two of which have occurred since the weekend.

City to craft strategic plan

Starkville officials will meet at 3 p.m. today in the Renasant Bank community room to hash out details of a new strategic plan.

Mayor Parker Wiseman said he expects the open meeting to run long but hopefully be productive.
