Rotary Rodeo coming Feb. 7-8

The Starkville Rotary Club has been hard at work preparing for its largest fundraising event of the year which will take place next weekend — when the rodeo rolls into town. Cowboys, cowgirls and clowns will descend upon the Mississippi Horse Park on Starkville Feb. 7 and 8 to compete and perform during the Rotary Classic Rodeo.

Supervisors seeking scholarship applicants

Fourteen high seniors who plan to attend a Mississippi college will have the opportunity to earn scholarship money through the 2014 Mississippi Association of Supervisors Minority Caucus Scholarship.

The caucus will award the $1,000 scholarship to three applicants from each of Mississippi’s four congressional districts and two at-large applicants.

FUMC selects new head of weekday ministries

First United Methodist Church in Starkville has hired Lucy Bryant as director of weekday ministries.

Bryant will head the church’s day care and preschool programs, which serve children newborn to 5 years old.
