4 aldermen intend to seek re-election in municipal race

Four of the Starkville Board of Aldermen’s seven current members have either already qualified or announced plans to qualify for another term in this year’s municipal election, while Mayor Parker Wiseman has announced his intention to run for a second term and will have at least one opponent.

County progressing toward planning deal

Oktibbeha County Board of Supervisors President Orlando Trainer said documents releasing the Golden Triangle Planning and Development District from a prior comprehensive plan agreement have been signed, which in turn will allow the county to enter into a similar agreement with Oxford-based planning firm Slaughter and Associates.

OCH Regional Medical Center Administrator and Chief Executive Officer Richard Hilton will appear before the Starkville Board of Aldermen Tuesday night to ask for reconsideration of a decision it made Jan. 3 to suspend payments for ambulance services.

Symphony beginning new year with ‘Jazz’

The Starkville-Mississippi State University Symphony Orchestra will open a new year of concerts with its performance of “All That Jazz” Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Starkville.

Symphony conductor Michael Brown said the concert’s first half will feature works by Darius Milhaud and Aaron Copland.

Local kennel club hosts annual dog competition

The Golden Triangle Kennel Club welcomes hundreds of canine enthusiasts with its annual dog show Saturday and Sunday beginning at 8:30 a.m. at the Mississippi State University Horse Park.

GTKC President Nancy Boden said entries increased for this year’s competition with approximately 600 participants scheduled to attend.
