Shooting reported near MSU

Mississippi State University reported a shooting at the Sprint Mart on Blackjack Road just west of campus early Saturday morning.
The university issued a Maroon Alert text message warning at 12:53 a.m. Saturday, warning students and alert subscribers that a shooting had been reported at the convenience store.

Erin Ray, owner of Denim and Lace, said she began looking for football season clothes in May, with shipments arriving in late July.

The Mississippi Youth Challenge Academy, based at Camp Shelby, is a program for “at-risk” 16-18-year-old students.

Starkville School District Assistant Superintendent Toriano Holloway Is familiar with the program and has referred students to it.

Sudduth Elementary is offering a new way for fathers to get involved in children’s school days.

This evening, the school will host a launch event for the Watch DOGS (Dads of Great Students) program. The school will hold the event at 6 p.m. in the school cafeteria.
